Nutrition Coordinator - Athletics [United States]


 

Provides assistance with all nutrition operations to student-athletes and staff. Primary responsibilities include: nutrition operation; food ordering; procurement of goods; leading internship program; hotel staff coordination; manage local vendors for sport meals and snacks; game day and practice operations; facilitate recovery from daily practices, training sessions and competitions; operational skill sets to help with scheduling, budgeting, and purchasing

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate oversight of fueling stations, including inventory management, order placement, and distribution
  • Aid in procurement of food and supplement orders including local vendor, supplemental vendors, and Gatorade allotment
  • Assist dietitians with nutrition operations including but not limited to: hotel staff coordination, local vendors for sport meals and snacks, game day operations, and practice operations
  • Facilitating recovery from daily practices, training sessions and competitions.
  • Assist in management of student-internship program and dietetic interns
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all departmental and university policies and procedures, as well as applicable government and industry standards, and ensures adherence to them.
  • Assist in Developing Policies and Processes. Ensuring quality and consistency in clinical, food service, and education programming through training and quality management studies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, exercise physiology, or related field required
  • Master's degree in nutrition, exercise physiology, or related field required starting January 2024.
  • 1 - 3 years Experience providing support to nutrition, exercise physiology, or related field.
  • Attention to detail when performing assigned tasks
  • Excellent time and priority management, organizational, and record-keeping skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals within a diverse environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, presentation, and counseling skills
  • Ability to work a non-standard workweek which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to operate with the highest standards of impartiality and professional treatment
  • Ability to comply with disclosure regulations relative to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA)


Preferred Qualifications:


Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $22.00 - $34.18. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
